There two type of filters ( passive & active ) power filter. Also each load had their harmonics shape, for example 6 bridge rectifier -3 phase have a harmonic orders as ( 6h plus minus 1)..which means this type of loads produced harmonics from the orders (5,7 ,11,13.....).

It's applied in singal processing data for sure....any network should studied its behavior in both domain ( time & frequency).
