someone wrote FDZ as a false detection zone and others mentioned it as a fault detection zone. please provide any information, material regarding the calculation of FDZ for an islanding detection technique
Fault (false) detection zone includes non-islanding conditions wherein an employed islanding detection methodology detects wrongly as islanding. For instance, the voltage of a weak grid may violate the standard range during a large capacitor switching, tripping the voltage relay.
So, an islanding detection signal should be 1) triggered during islanding events accurately (minimum NDZ) and 2) should not trip in non-islanding events (minimum FDZ).
