This question is perplexing. How often does pain arise in the subcutaneous tissue ? There is no muscle in the subcutaneous tissue except in the neck and face. And since almost all soft tissues pain is MYOFASCIAL I am not sure why the question arose.
It is well known that no type of TENS treatments does anything to reduce inflammation or promote healing. They all (even microcurrent) act by influencing mediators in the brain and spinal cord).
Sop if you consider that even MICROCURRENT produces some pain relief, all you need to do is read about the MENDS miicrocurrent device.
Personally, I am more interested in frequency, wave form, and pulse duration because I am trying to HEAL nerves and myofascial tissue.
Also, the EPIMYSIAL fascia is very thin and the APONEUROTIC fascia is very thick. I would be grateful if anyone could tell me how manual pressure translates to electrical energy (in joules ) since no form of electrical therapy has been shown to be superior to manual therapy as yet, but I think the combination of manual and electrical will be very beneficial to most patients
