I am trying to simulate single phase flow through packed bed in Openfoam. I want to know different forces which will play role and other basic needs to set up a case.
It will be helpful if anybody could suggest any fundamental study materials or tutorials related to packed beds and above problem setup.

Generally for porous media, the sign of the source term is always opposite to the sign of the local velocity, and the derivative w.r.t. velocity is always negative, which is a crucial condition for a robust solution.

I have worked on a project relative to the porous media simulation on OpnFOAM a few years ago.
In OpenFOAM, you can use fvOptions to apply a porous region in a specific zone. However, in my idea, the solvers are not well developed for the effect of porosity.
