@ Anil - If at all there is a difference,it would not a major one. What we need to do is to grow crops successfully suitable to a particular climate as climate variability in semi-arid climate zones has become very common. Of course this is my understanding on this aspect.

Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) contributes for climate resilient as CSA has three objectives:

1. Increasing agricultural productivity and promote sustainability

2. Promote resilience to climate change; and

3. Reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Climate resilient agriculture, on the other hand have food security and resilient to climate change as priorities, hence may be even more technological, priorities scientific researches including biotechnology in food products, and market oriented.

climate resilient Agric. has been included in Climate smart Agric. as its take care of the resilient component of CSA.

The most important thing is to optimize crops yields, preserve the environnement for less degraded futur climate.

The climate smart agriculture will lead to climate resilient agricultural system. The climate smart agriculture practices such as conservation agricultural practices, integrated management of pest and diseases, agroforestry, soil and water conservation practices, resource recycling, efficient utilisation of non renewable energy sources etc.will lead to climate resilient agriculture.

Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) is one of the component for achieving climate resilience. CSA integrates technologies for increasing agricultural productivity and promote sustainability. Resilience literally means "coming back to normal". In the scenario of climate change (CC), the means to reduce the impact of CC, adaptation and mitigation means in holistic is considered as climate resilience.

CSA is not a set of practices that can be universally applied, but rather an approach that involves different elements embedded in local contexts. CSA relates to actions both on-farm and beyond the farm, and incorporates technologies, policies, institutions and investment.

In simple language, climate smart agriculture means the improved methods for climate change but climate resilient agriculture is to use those CSA for cropping in inappropriate climate to counteract the problems.

To me , both are two different sides of same coin and are interrelated.

Climate smart means anything which you plan in advance to encounter vagris of weather or abiotic stress so that its effect may be minimized.This may involve avoiding stress or tolerating stress with any set of procedures.However, climate resilient is something which is infact capable of tolerating the stress arising out of a set of conditions.For example , not applying irrigation in lieu of rainfall forecast by IMD/weather department makes a component of climate smart exercise.However, growing a variety/crop which is capable of tolerating high heat/temerature stress in summer months brings it into a fold of climate resilient technolgy.Let us invite opinions.

All discussions point simply refers that in climate smart system we have to make smart planning or reorient system i.e. adjustment in sowing time, etc. and climate resilient mean we have to face the challenge of climate change through mitigation or adaptation options.
