Constructed wetland is an artificial wetland created for the purpose of treating anthropogenic discharge such as municipal or industrial wastewater or stormwater runoff. Biofilter on other hand side is a generic term for anything that uses biofilm attached to a solid medium for separation and biodegradation of contaminants from water or air passing through it. Trickling filter is a type of biofilter used for the wastewater treatment.

Article Constructed Wetlands for Wastewater Treatment: A Review
Dr. Bayan, the figures are good, but it would have been much more interesting if you had provided some explanation /commentary on the figures. Thank you.
Several types of constructed artificial wetlands are used for wastewater treatment. Free water surface systems with various types of vegetation -free-floating, floating-leaved, submerged and emergent – are used in many countries. Subsurface flow systems are primarily built with horizontal flow, however the increased need for ammonia removal initiated a fast development and spread of vertical flow systems which are intermittently fed.
Biofilter is one of the most important separation processes that can remove organic pollutants from air, water, and wastewater. The most important parameter which governs this process is the biomass attached to the medium. Thank you
