As an Art Therapist, I view the creative process as a collaboration between linear and organic thought processes, the symbolic and cognitive. Creative reasoning would be the didactic conversation between these processes.

Unlike linear reasoning, it thrives on ambiguity, pattern recognition, and aesthetic intuition. It is not confined to art, it is the driving force behind innovation in science, diplomacy, policy, and academia. In essence, creative reasoning is where intellect thinks and imagination dares.

I think the academic answer based on design research would be that creative reasoning is "abductive reasoning". Dorst's article: The core of ‘design thinking’ and its application, is a good place to start if you want to understand the concept .

Creative thinking is a lateral thinking that explores the imagistic structures of the person, consciously or unconsciously, of the environments of interest of the artist, creator, or beneficiary of the work, artistic work, project. Design thinking is that creative thinking that explores the complexity of the product, the creator and the beneficiary in the same philosophical context. Multiple creative techniques, iterations, concept ideas are used, using Miller's law, psychological theories of color strategies, cultural tools, cultural traceability and sustainability, etc.
