Biodiversity is the natural world around us, and the variety of all of the different kinds of organisms - the plants, animals, insects and microorganisms that live on our planet. Every one of these live and work together in ecosystems to maintain and support life on earth, and exist in delicate balance. Higher biodiversity leads to a more stable ecosystem. However, there are contradictory opinions on the subject. Different factors may lead to stability loss. The very same factors almost always also cause loss of species diversity. Biodiversity boosts ecosystem productivity where each species, no matter how small, all has an important role to play. As a larger number of plant species means a greater variety of crops. Greater species diversity ensures natural sustainability for all life forms.
