You can use 5% H with 95% Ar. That's much safer.

Yes, never use pure H2. As Dieter said, diluted H2 in Ar is enough ans safer. If you are afraid, you can also do this with our oven placed into a glove box filled with N2. You can also use a H2 generator instead of gas cylinders.
