I would like to be able to open my window to ventilate without been bothered by mosquitoes. What kind of system could I used, preferably integrated and discreet, instead of a classical mosquito net ?
Classical systems are 100% efficient and very low tech. This is the very first challenge. First ideas to modernise would go into automated systems. For sliding windows for instance one can think of a roll-up screen attached to the sliding sash. When coupled with the outer frame it rolls off and covers the opening against insects. Uncoupled it rolls up aganin and leaves the doorway open. In my wildest dreams I would install a 5W laser that's getting triggered by a computerised anti mosquito detection system and burn them in flight. The laser of course knows the difference between moquito's and humans :-)
You can already find this kind of mosquito net roller for slider but you cannot use it for side hung windows. And Intellectual Ventures has shown a laser system able to detect and kill mosquitoes in flight. But when you look at the videos, it seems difficult to integrate the device in a window
