Recently I used the instrument as attached in the link to measure coumarin's melting point. I was wondering if there is a more reliable instrument that could give the accurate melting point because sometimes by using this kind of instrument we tend to make personal error in reading the thermometer.

The phase change at the material at melting point shall create temperature plateau, lasting until all the material is melted. Therefore you may try to look for apparatus similar to these used at the temperature metrology. But you will have to use the calibrated thermometer to determine unknown melting point temperature correctly.

I don't see the link you mentioned but why not using a simple calorimeter ?
