When an article is checked for plagiarism, the references sometimes show that the paper has got more than unexpected plagiarism like 35-50%. sometimes filtering may help so what measure should be taken in using references?
If by references you mean the citations within the body of the article, I think it would be valid to simply ignore the indications that the references have been plagiarised. Otherwise (if you're referring to entries in the reference list), remove the reference list prior to conducting the plagiarism check.
