I appreciate the time taken to answer to my queries. I have now an interesting list of ethnographic visual methods. However I am still pursuing in the line of 'vernacular architecture' and hybrid visual methods. I leave my invitation open. Will keep on following the leads.

This classic, well-illustrated vernacular architecture study may be just what you're looking for:
Glassie, Henry. (third printing 1987). Folk Housing in Middle Virginia: a structural analysis of historic artifacts. Knoxville: The University of Tennessee Press.
Glassie combines ideas taken from Noam Chomsky's generative grammar, Claude Levi-Strauss' structural anthropology, and Robert Armstrong's intensive-extensive opposition to "read" vernacular structures as if they were books.

Thank you all. Sincerely appreciate this growing list. I am adding Tim Ingold and Marchand to the list due to my interest in anthropology. I will be looking for further leads since little research has been done on cross disciplinary vernacular visual methods. Unfortunately there appears to be a Great Divide between architecture and anthropology.

Visual documents are among the most important documents in the study of history, especially the history of architecture. There are different types of visual documents, among which painting is an important type, the capabilities of which are not well known and have been used less in architectural research. By recognizing these capacities, the necessary points in using them, a comprehensive review of the literature on this subject, recognizing the background and sources of painting and reflecting on its various aspects are extracted. Therefore, the place of different types of paintings in the study of the history of architecture and how to use them as a research tool in architecture is determined.
