I have read some papers in which the authors designated a section known as 'current study' to explain one thing or the other.
One most recent paper I read had its 'current study' section explain about the process by which the author obtained ethical approval for the paper.
I have been left mute, and feel that I have some questions.
Now, my question is, what does a 'current study' section in research papers mean?
As in the above case, does a 'current study' section of a research paper have anything to do with getting ethical approval?

The contrast is presumably with previous studies. The author would be providing either (1) information about what is special or different about his study as opposed to ones that have been conducted before, either by himself or by others; or else (2) indicating how his study largely conforms to previous studies, or (3) a bit of both. So the author would've included information about the ethical process because he thought it was worth mentioning, either because it was significantly different or because it had not previously been made explicit. In any case, explaining the ethical process is a matter of authorial decision and not a necessary component of a 'current study' section, except in the rare situation in which a journal's instructions to authors might say otherwise.
