Recently, I have recorded XPS spectra of PPy and its composite for supercapacitor application. I have observed a N 1s peaks slight shifting in the higher position while significant changes in the intensity of the peak. PPy was obtained by in-situ oxidative polymerization approach. composite formation happened simultaneously with pyrrole polymerization in a reaction mixture. To make it clearer I have attached the spectra as well.

A change in spectrum means that the polypyrrole nitrogen is involved in a reaction with another component of the composition. For a more detailed condemnation of the reaction, it is necessary to know the structure of this component and the change in its structure.
Primarily you observe a shift to higher binding energies. That means that electron density from the valence shell is withdrawn which indicates that N coordinates to an electron acceptor.
Just a technical hint: if you want to publish a deconvolution, make sure your components have the same width since a component width is an apparative constant. Otherwise you might get into trouble with some reviewers; I even once had a reviewer who doubted based on "eyeball check" that my coauthor's components had the same width [they had].
