How can I decide the superiority of a mathematical model from ANOVA tests?
Please, discuss this in simple language. I have read enough about it on the internet but not convinced enough to use it in my research works related to Geotechnical Engineering.
ANOVA is a procedure. It "signifies" nothing. It is a way to split the variance seen in your data into components that can be attributed to (or be "explained by") experimental factors, and some rest, the residual variance.
Anova may not be the best way to determine the superiority of a model. It really depends on what you are trying to do with the model, and what criteria would make sense to suggest one model "superior" to another model.
You might look at "accuracy" for models. Or model fitting criteria like AIC and BIC. Validation....
