With the development of newer screening tools and the stronger community mental health movement, is WHO's Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20 or SRQ-24) still the recommended screening tool at the primary health care level ?
I think this tool is specifically developed for low income countries. One challenges is that it is difficult for rural populations in these countries to understand the items in the tool even when the physicians administer them to the patients.
The utility of self reporting questionnaires is on the raise as the increased awareness about health and health related issues in the community. By this the health related statistical results might be estimated with much more transparency and accuracy.
