Although preventive psychiatry is a well-known concept, it is a poorly utilized public health strategy to address the population's mental health needs. It has wide-ranging implications for the wellbeing of society and individuals, including those suffering from chronic medical problems. The researchers and policymakers are increasingly realizing the potential of preventive psychiatry; however, its implementation is poor in low-resource settings. Utilizing novel interventions, such as mobile-and-internet-based interventions and blended and stepped-care models of care can address the vast mental health need of the population. Additionally, it provides mental health services in a less-stigmatizing and easily accessible, and flexible manner. In this sense, more research concerning these issues is required worldwide, especially in the low-and-middle-income countries.

Am in full agreement with your observation s. Rama Gokula Krishnan that a more holistic and integrated approach of mental health (also with respect to the interplay with physical health) is in the making, i.e. the human organism is an information field, in terms of the physiology of behavior.
Currently, the mainstream direction in mental health promotion research is focusing on clinic and preventive approach. This trend emphasizes understanding the broad determinants of mental health, such as social, environmental, and economic factors. There’s increasing interest in how these determinants can be modified to prevent mental health issues, rather than just treating them after they arise. Additionally, there is a significant emphasis on digital and technological solutions, such as mobile health applications and online therapy platforms, to increase access to mental health resources. This includes exploring the efficacy of digital interventions and how they can be integrated with traditional healthcare services. Research is also increasingly recognizing the importance of personalized and precision medicine approaches in mental health. This involves tailoring interventions to individual needs based on genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. Furthermore, there’s growing awareness about the importance of resilience and positive psychology, shifting focus from merely treating mental illness to also promoting mental well-being and resilience in individuals and communities. Lastly, there’s a concerted effort to reduce stigma associated with mental health issues and to promote mental health literacy, ensuring that people have the knowledge and resources to support their own mental health and that of others.
