I have missing feeling about the use of an advanced language model to write essays, although that may depend on the area, e.g. in humanities there is an important writing component, but scientific research is about finding new knowledge. If you do your research work and at the end write a report with help from an NLP model, how is that essentially different from using an spell checker? The results of your research are still there, does it matter if you communicate those results with some help form an NLP model to save some time and make the language cleaner?
