As I have gotten older, my views have changed on many things. To many people success is about money. Success to me has never been about money, or status, but of security.
Success to me is completing whatever I start, having money to pay my bills without the shame of having to ask others for help, raising my children as my positive contribution to society, leaving a legacy, and living a peaceful life free of dis-ease and strife.
It defines success as accomplishments to be achieved in a specific period of time and specific factors, as they are called success on the target or access to the target to be complete, whether this goal the entire project or a simple task, or has been achieved during the work or within the personal life of the individual, and in general it is the description of the individual who was able to achieve his personal goals, or professional, or financial, also referred to as the achievement of positive results, and hoped for, and desired ....
Steps to Success: Many steps can be taken to enable an individual's access to success. Among these steps is to define the concept of success for oneself. Setting personal, professional and academic goals, raising the ceiling of self-expectations. Develop strategies that help achieve goals. Use technology as a means to achieve goals. Provide a support network composed of family and friends. Work hard, be diligent, and have flexibility. Understanding self-abilities and ways to develop them, strengths and weaknesses.
People whom we as label as successful are not determined by the heap of notes ,but by the perfection they have attained in their particular field. Its after all these factors which is followed by money.
We can slowly touch the feet of success when our competitor is ourself. Our efforts should be in improving ourself each day finally attaining perfection thereby being successful.
Success can be measured by ourselve. I consider the action itself as a success if its fulfill the below items
Happiness through the act
Value given to the life
Resuls towards the valid and good purpose
Not the first prize always consider as success
Sucess is individual thing. It can be mesured by different units. You got high paid job. You project was noticed and highly appreciated by others. You got fame. Sucess has different meaning in different stages of your life.

This would depend highly on the person. Some value amassing wealth and the amount as a benchmark of success; others may look at the number of publications/patents. The definition also changes with one's age and stage of life. During younger days one might have valued money and power as important and perhaps during old age just being content with what they have is enough to be considered a success. People in developing countries have a very different definition of success. Many cultures value contentment and are thankful for what (little) they may have rather than striving for what they don't have and then feeling desperate or angry about it.
There could be a successful student, successful parents, successful teachers, successful service holders, successful businessman, successful politicians. Each of the terms is easily explainable. But it is difficult to explain/difficult to characterize a "successful man"

In our education program success was to train thousands of aboriginal youth to become teachers within enclaves called "reserves" where there is no employment or future and all get free money from the government to sit at home and do nothing.

I felt successful when I had managed my PhD. I wanted to do it for so long and was SO happy when I managed it.
I remember when my husband took me to the award ceremony and we sat with another friend, outside the venue, as it became evening. It was warm and we watched a river flowing by as it became dark.
