In many SRM designs, the air gap between rotor and stator is about 0.3 mm. Which is the maximum permissible tolerance in the cutting process to ensure the air gap? What cutting process is generally used? Does the stamping meet the requirements?
It depends on. If it is only prototyping laser cutting is used. In series production the classical punching technology, combined with final core interior surface machining, can achieve the required air-gap.
