Population ageing is a hot topic among the nations developed and developing today. Many research works are on way in countries like Japan and European countries. At present Japan is at top of the population ageing list but it is estimated that by 2050 many of the transitional countries would either compete Japan or cross it and the consequences on such countries would be greater than what Japan is facing. Dear researchgatians do you have any viable solutions to overcome population ageing. Take example of India...whether India would be ready to tackle this problem by 2050.. I think the answer is blurred....
According to Population Division, DESA, United Nations, over the next half century, in more developed regions of the world number of persons aged 60 or over will increase by about 70 per cent, from 231 million in 2000 to 395 million in 2050. In contrast, in the less developed regions the older population will more than quadruple during this same period, from 374 million to 1.6 billion. By 2050, nearly four fifths of the world’s older population will be living in the less developed regions.
