What could be the factors (other than SCC) responsible for GB embrittlement in an Al-Cu-Mg-Ni-Fe base AA2618 alloy?

The alloy having very coarse Al9FeNi and Al7Cu2Fe types of second phase distributed (at both grain boundaries as well as inside grains) in an equiaxed matrix grain structure. Apparently no inter-connected phases or continuous films could be noticed at Grain Boundaries. Yet GB cracks are observed after a brief period of sevice life (please refer to the microstructure). Microstructure has been taken beneath the fracture surface that shows predominant inter-granular morphology.

It sounds like exfoliation corrosion could be a possibility. Details on the temper and environment would help.
