I am doing my research on the impact of urbanization on the water quality of Aba-Samuel reservoir, Ethiopia. it is difficult for me to correlate urbanization and water quality parameters. I have been done the current 12 water quality parameters in the laboratory. What do you suggest to me to correlate these parameters and urbanization?

Monitoring water quality programs should be achieved contain water samples collected from the reservoir and wastewater (sewage, drain canals, etc). Then make statistical correlation between them, using phsico-chemical parameters.

I support what was suggested by Bayan, and I also think it would be very helpful if you compare your data with a reference point data outside the urbanized area, provided that the reservoir materials are similar.

In order to find out the impact of urbanization on the quality of water in the reservoir, it appears to me that at first it is needed to find out different types and nature of urban sources, physical and chemical, their temporal and seasonal variation if any. Analyse the water quality during these times and try to assess the degree of changes. Second method is that find out the water quality of any water body in very rural areas where significantly lower degree of anthropogenic disturbances are present. Compare the water qualities may be in terms of water quality index values and asses the degree of urban impact.
