My goal is to hydrolyze paper in a hydrochloric acid solution at the lowest acid concentration for the shortest amount of time, with time being the most important factor.
I am sorry I do not use any acids to pylolyze cellulose.
I just use CO2 laser.

If time is important, then more acid and hotter temperatures are probably going to be necessary!
For really low concentrations, solid acid catalysts appear to be nice choices; however, trying to react suspended cellulose with a solid catalyst will not help in terms of time.

For a rapid reaction - without too many side products - you'd probably need a rapid way of heating and cooling, such as a microwave reactor.
A lesser time of about 7minutes and a temperature as high as 220 degree celcius could give a good hydrolysis of paper with a 0.5% dilute H2SO4 or HCL.
