What is the reason for increase in photocatalytic property with increasing in the PL intensity for a heterogeneous material, i.e., ZnO mixed with transition metal chalcogenides compared to pure ZnO.
The type of heterojunction is staggered type.
Usually people observe quenching in PL for enhancement in photocatalytic property. Here we observed vice-versa why?

Possible catalytic properties enhancement is connected to changes in the spatial and surface charges distribution, thus changing the surface potential and give rize to surface chemical reactions. As such type of the heterointerface can enhance spatial separation between photoexcited electron and holes, more charges occures in the particles and on the surface, moreover, those charges could have longer lifetime because of inhibited recombination
