I am writing a short note about bats diversity in two sites (the sampling period for one site is of two days and in the other site is of six days) but besides the species and abundances, I also have information about the sexes of individuals. Any recommendations of papers or about what could I do with the sex information of the species?
In a population one can tell the nature and behavioural patterns of a community. Those with territorial behaviour have a low ratio of males to females. A low percentage of males indicate fights and successions. Gathering foods for young ones is usually a responsibility of females. In the site where sampling is done for 6 days fluctuations in numbers of females may be higher because of outings as they look for food
Male numbers may remain the same because they remain and rarely go out to hunt for food.
Just include all variables in your analysis and see what it shows. Also, a paper is better than a short note :)
