These are chickpea and flax roots cleared in 10% KOH and stained using the typical protocol for Trypan blue. The plants were grown in ProMix HP Potting Soil. No fertilizers or anything other than water was used to grow the plants. The flax roots were harvested when the plant was 5 weeks old, and the chickpea roots at 3 weeks old. The pictures were taken with my cell phone at either 10x or 40x mag. There's no micrometer in this microscope.

I'm looking for AMF colonization since ProMix states R. irregularis is in their potting soil. However, I don't yet see colonization, but have been seeing these weird shapes, almost like nematodes, and wondering if anyone else has seen them with this potting soil, or maybe knows that they are otherwise?! Thanks in advance!
