The trending research topics in the field of Chemical Engineering field is heat exchangers, nano fluid heat transfer, bio mass and fuel cell technology.
My Research Gate colleagues have given good "broad" suggestions.
My "small" humble suggestion is to concentrate a research upon a single method of producing an important material trying to achieve optimization of the chemical unit process(es) involved and/or the physical unit operation(s) that are required.
Optimization has been & will remain a "hot" topic.
