Undergard. and postgrad. students on a daily basis are busy with research papers and projects, lecturers/instructors are also busy with research papers for publication. What are the steps or guidelines towards better research?
When you say most of your colleagues are busy in research then it is understood that most of them know basic guidelines.
Following research after appropriate approvals from bodies like institution board or ethical (in cases of health research) or other in concerned area if applicable , are must.
No plagiarism or research misconduct.
It would be better if a basic course on research methodology or ethical practice is done.
Other are procedural integrity like correct data and interpretation without falsification.
These are some of the things out of many things to follow which I suppose many senior researchers in research gate would be happy to share.
Thank you very much Dr. Ganesh S Dharmshaktu. The question raised is quite significant because we all have different styles and approaches to solving problems. My approach may be different from yours, it is also possible that you have a better ways of conducting research which will helpful to me, fellow researchers and students. Your suggestions are noted and appreciated. Thank you.
Personally for me I think to conduct a research one must have a proper planning/protocol before doing so; this will give you direction and will prevent one from procrastinating. I usually spend more time in perfecting my protocol to ensure that I don't deviate from what I'm trying to do and should I encountered any issue it will be easy fro me to troubleshoot.
There is no perfect guidelines for better research, but according to me continuous dedication and hard work is the key factors.
Because there will be some phase in research that you will get demotivated or demoralized but to some circumstances such as you will not get results as expected, external factors, personal life and sometime hearing demotivating words from other towards our research. But in that phase we need to be very stable so that it does not affect our work. Because research is not short term process but it is long term process.
So dedication, hard work, encouragement and enthusiasm are key factors we need to remember..
Thank you very much Dr. Nikisha Jariwala. I have noted your response. I am glad to know that continuous dedication and hard work is the key factor towards better research.
