First of all the teacher can make their campus as a mode for sustainable development. Once the students are ready to practice it during study period, it can be expected from them that they will practice it in their professional life. Thus we can make our students innovative, and creative. thank you
The theme of sustainable development is increasingly important at all levels of learning. Hence, teachers should have vision and awareness of their roles in educating students towards achieving sustainability.
Adding to Mr. Afaq contribution, ESD is relatively a new pedagogy, current teachers have not been exposed to such education during their pre-service time, therefore the teachers must be trained before delivering ESD topics to their students. Teachers can integrate concepts of sustainable development within their courses materials irrespective of the nature of the subjects they teach, ESD is a multidiscipline topic that can fit science, humanities, social studies, art and languages.
the answer first might beg a operationalizing question: The sustainable development of what? In other words, are you asking the role of a teacher in the sustainable development of natural resources or community infrastructures(both social and political-)--or do you mean sustainable in relationship to the ability to maintain that which as been developed--ie the political system, the societal institutions, the culture the status-quo?
