What are the reasons for the bending of a flower stalk of the rose plants?

Sometimes a bending of the flower stalk of the rose plant occurs when it bears large flowers, especially thin stalks.

Old stems are usually unproductive and produce poor flower quality. So old stems are bent to produce new young vigorous shoots which produce high flower quality. During bending exercise, old bent shoots continue providing food to sprouting young ones.
