I had three different Chairs for my dissertation. The first one kept putting me off in reviewing my drafts. By the time I had a similar experience with the second one, I recognized that my topic was somewhat controversial, as the second Chair wanted for me change my research questions. Being on a international student visa, I was running out of time, so I had a chat with the Office of Diversity, whose Head at the time helped me to find a Chair outside of my faculty but aligned with my topic. I had graduated just in time that by the time arrived back home, my visa had expired.
