What do you think will the classroom look like after the COVID-19 pandemic? From where I come from there seems to be different approaches and depends largely on how an institution is prepared. Schools usually commence between June to August. The following are just some of scenarios from my colleagues:
School 1 : Entirely online and start of the school is July (Prepared with blended learning implemented for several years)
School 2: Will start in August but they just started to talk about going online since last March (No infrastructure, no policy, no training)
School 3: Would like to conduct classes but no infrastructure, policies and no training. Will start August but no clear plans yet. They plan to conduct classes online via email.
From what I've gathered, it all depends on how prepared institutions are. My worry is if I go to a face-to-face class, will social distancing be practiced? Will I be wearing a mask? What will happen to courses that are best delivered with face-to-face interactions?
I am from Germany and here schools have closed down in mid march. Since then distance learning is done.
Now the first classes are coming back into school.
Social distancing and face masks are applied. And online/home schooling to parts of the classes. But there are several different approaches... No gold standard.
And Germany's schools are not prepared for distance/online learning, yet...
Did you have to make addjustments? Like divide a big class into 2 smaller groups?
It would vary depending on availability of resources and facilities in the area of class room.
Social distancing is difficult in the classroom setting. Most programs in the US are using online classroom instruction. Since many programs already offer at least a limited number of courses online, the adaptation has not been terribly challenging. However, clinical experiences are very limited during the COVID pandemic and it is much more difficult to substitute online experiences that meet course objectives.

One potential option though is simply buying online (e.g. video, text book, exercise, etc.) material from leading universities - and then average scholars will become slaves to the best and have to teach as facilitators only (etc.)
Katherine Thomas I think this is where the preparedness of institutions come in handy when it comes to the use of technology in the course delivery. I agree that some courses maybe difficult to deliver especially to those that require "actual experience".
Csaba Csáki I agree on the factors. The possible scenarios seem to point to the direction that the education landscape will never be the same.
Going online for university students are much easier as they have the gadgets to go with it. The social distancing is not an issue as they are already distanced amongst them from wherever they area. Unfortunately the lecturer has to spend at least double his/her time in the teaching process.
Kuppusamy Singaravelloo I guess educators like us will need to adjust as well. I wonder how can educational institutions with no access to technology resources cope up?
Ryan, I am aware many countries have not caught up with the rapid change in technology. In such conditions, we may want to consider tapping on the potentials of the mobile phone as a channel to conduct classrooms online, albeit with difficulties. I am assuming each family now has at least one mobile phones, and I might be wrong here.
Csaba Csáki Maybe. Right now, even if schools are equipped with the infrastructure, there is limited connectivity. Of course, those with resources have clear advantage in this situation,
So, as has been observed already by some reports: the gaps will increase (between the haves and the havenots)... unless, we do something about it, that is (not that I am optimistic...)
Csaba Csáki I agree. But even among educators, this gap exists. Plus technology acceptance varies as well. I know some colleagues from other disciplines who teach well inside the classroom. I wonder how they will adjust? I guess during lockdowns, administrators should start training faculty members to prepare for the new norm.
Ryan Ebardo interesting point about the differences regarding lecturers: differences among countries or schools - and differences who will be able to adjust (indeed, teaching online is a different ballgame and requires a different skillset as well) - questions is, what should that potential education you envision contain and cover...

Ryan Ebardo I see your main background is BIS - and have some pedagogy expertise as well. Is your main interest right now covers teaching BIS, or Teaching in higher education general - or even more so: pedagogical methods?
This is the time to equip our teaching personnel with adequate technology relevant to the education.But some are well adjusted with class room teaching,but the contemporary situation made compulsion to every one to thorough with technology.It is not time to give explanation.we need to sustain society,future generation ( students) and facilitators (teachers).It is personal opinion.
In some of my courses where we prepared video material things changed - and the teaching sequence has got reversed: erlier I had my lectures and then students went home to study - now they watch videos and then talk to me (for consultation).
