Online platforms are not equivalent to online learning. online platform is a tool for delivery. Online learning requires both the tools for delivery as well as that "thing" to be delivered (education). how will you deliver education online? by developing courseware. Without courseware, universities are doomed in online education.

yes , some negative effects are there and at the same time many positive aspects too. this can also be seen as that in this way teaching is reaching to all and everywhere . just remember due to very urgent issue or being unwell you were not able to attend very important/ urgent, class/ topic and how you were repenting for that. same goes for your students too. so one of the aspect is that now all will be able to attend the class from anywhere. and i find it good.

Ijaz, apart from the financial impact that Universities have to bear as a result of rapidly introducing and intensifying online teaching and learning, other potential consequences include human capital issues. For example, Universities will have to ensure that they have the appropriate technology to facilitate such new forms of educational interactions; Universities will also have to put in place training and development packages that will upskill staff as well as students in how to make efficient use of the technological platforms; Universities will have to ensure that the ethical protocols are in place for such interactions and so on.

Distance learning will become more popular than classical off line education. Distance learning is more affordable for many people. So, it will have financial impact on HEI.

Online teaching might be a good option and time demanding measure to mitigate the crisis in the field of education. Tuition fees and other expenditures need to reschedule after cost analysis studies.

Like any other segment, higher education is also severely affected by the nation-wide lockdown consequent on Covid-19. In India, the nation-wide lockdown commenced on 25 March 2020 and still continues in many states, with few relaxations, if not complete relaxations. Many educational institutions were at the tip of closing after final examinations when Covid-19 had started. The lockdown caused postponement of classes and examinations initially, which later on. As lockdown continued, decisions were taken to move onto online teachings and examinations and most Universities and higher educational institutions are heading towards a completion of these tasks. In the process, I felt that there are serious issues as regards the quality of learning and teaching and even the conduct of examinations. While there is a clear trend globally, towards online mode of teaching, it may not be justifiable to make it a sustainable model of education, especially in the higher education system, because of the loss of quality and content in such teaching/ learning mode and the final academic and professional outcomes in the long run.
The meaning and philosophy of education change.
Information transfer and "quantified control of its quality" (mere absurdity!) to accredit and grant certificates are not reasonable in a context when the society has access to an abundance of information.
Nigeria as a peculiar environment that stick with the traditional classroom teaching across her educational system especially her higher education as failed to equipped her tertiary institutions with necessary e learning materials, those ones that are on ground are not working to satisfaction. This Covid-19 has opened the eyes of government, lecturers and other stakeholders of education to know the need to effectively integrate the use of modern e-learning to our higher education system. Post Covid-19 will bring training and retraining staff and students as priority to enable lecturers and students to fully aware the importance of e-learning in our educational system.
The education system has to adapt like all other species faceing mass extinction event. Only two types of institutions will survive. Robust or swift. Robust type has solid teaching environment where processes are established, teaching material standarised and available in many forms. Swift type will adapt quick, remove unnessesary, close gaps, look into future. All others beetween these two types, who sticks to "prehistoric" teaching methods, materials, equipment and most of all with "we know how it works" attitude will gradualy loose the edge....
With passion, grit and some talent one can be be successful without higher education. Choosing a higher education has really to add a value for a young person.
Students won't need to go to school or campus to hear a lecture. They will crave going to school to be part of activities, socialize with friends, and work on engaging projects or research with teachers. Blending the best of online and in-person will lead to better outcomes across the board.

Other key feature is: student expectations. Students who were already studying online do not have any problem. It is different in students who had to move suddenly to remote contact (that is not online education at all!). Some students appreciate (and, sometimes, are paying for) to study in a particular place because its face-to-face enriched envirtonment, that clearly is not working during quarantine times.
Online education is design, not only videoconference contacts.
And I acknowledge financial problems. But I think the deep problem behind those financial problems is concentrated in a very big question: what is the value that students are perceiving in higher education courses?
If we have more accurate answer to htat question, we can have more tools to overcome the covid-19 and other possible crisis in higher education settings.

One of the notable effects of Covid -19 on education will be the greater incorporation of technology. Education might become more hybrid in nature with more of flip learning and blended learning. Students will have to own greater responsibility for learning . Yet another result will be that marks or points received in assessments may not carry much value as there are several questions raised against the validity and academic integrity of online assessments.

The impact of covid 19 in the educational industry is the emergence of online teaching forcing both students and teacher to delve into a learning interface which to both are something unprecedented. To this effect, I see a need to revisit the teacher education curriculum.
It has devastating consequences on education industry in particular. Most of the universities are trimming their staffs, because of inability to pay say lories. Also new jobs advertised up to the level of disappointment. More future uncertainties in the education sector are under way with obvious challenges, however., we have to adopt and cope with it.

Apart from lack of infra-structure and knowhow for switching to online learning on the part of educational institutions and teachers, there is also the question of "digital divide" among students, where many students, especially in developing countries, do not have the necessary gadgets and connectivity to take part in online forums
For next academic year, more likely there will be a mix of online-only and hybrid teaching methods.
The hybrid approach includes both online and face-to face to different ratios for the delivery of contents.
However, if things get really bad because of Covid-19 health crisis, then faculty and students can switch completely to the online-only method of delivery.
