Hi everyone,

In order to get the nonlinear evolution equation, the well-known reductive perturbation technique is often used. Such a procedure is valid if :

1) there is an equilibrium state.

2) one can indicate some small parameter ε which is used for constructing some expansion.

I am wondering what are the possible physical meanings of the small parameter ε.
