I want to measure the conductivity and other parameters of different sources of water to know whether aquatic animal can survive or not in that water sample
Specific conductivity of water is not the only parameter for the aquaculture / aquatic animal like fish. Because fish lives in low conductivity river/lake water and as well very high conductivity sea water. For detailed study, Please refer : Anita Bhatnagar and others 2013, Water quality guidelines for the management of pond fish culture, International Journal of Environmental Sciences 3(6). This and various other materials are available on line.
You can check all water quality parameters to know status of water bodies. Dissolved oxygen have a great significance, and is must for survival of aquatic environment.
it depends of what water boder you have to do. And remind, please, the famous Libih-Shelford law from ecology that always limitating is one factor! Moreover, what stage of development of the species? Adult normally are not so sencitive... But larvae can be the real source of problems. Yeah, Manoj, oxygen is important. But the sward is dangerous from both sides - poison for anoxybionts in benthos and suitable for nekton or plankton. As well should take into consideration period of year - if cold, so not so dangerous for oxygen, but in this conditions could be food forage limitation..
So, e.g, when flood raise the bottom species - no chance for them (hardly ever) to survive. So, no universal receipt. All evaluations are complex. But if you can see in the water some living being, so may be situation is not catastrophic. Meanwhile, by eyes you can see living beings (e.g. infusoria, about 40 μ)...
If they are anything like aquariums, the CO2 and H2S levels in small bodies of water such as ponds, whether temporary as in the Amazon flood plains and the Kalahari, or possibly longer term as might be used for aquaculture or rice paddies, could even be more important than oxygen levels. As to conductivity, it depends on the species.
Its depend on the type animals like fish (Type of fish). DO is sufficient for that. Water has lot of laboratory parameters. You can consider IS 10500:2012.
