Exogenous technological growth was first captured by Robert Solow's residual, and problems of application to shifts in the production function was noted by Salters. This was before endogenous growth models took over and pushed the research in the direction of business cycle theory through a disaggregation of the Solow residual into technology, health, human capital etc.

Note that Solow's model was an expansion of the famous Harrod-Domar dynamic model comparing saving to accelerator ratio (s/v) with population growth (n.)

I think the factor evolution augmented Solow-Swan growth model which adopts the neoclassical production function does this quite well @ Yahui Li
