I'm surprised that I did not see ECJ (http://cs.gmu.edu/~eclab/projects/ecj/). To me, this is the most powerful GA/GP/ES, etc... library in Java. Very well written, very easy to use and very efficient. Supports multithreading.

It lets you select functions to fit the data. Although it does not support imaginary number or ' i ' which is used extensively in analytical circuit analysis (electronics). Unless I am missing something or work around that problem.

I agree with Marc. ECJ is widely used in the genetic programming community, and supports most common variants (e.g. strongly-typed grammars, grammatical evolution, cartesian genetic programming). It also fits nicely with the author's (free!) book, Essentials of Metaheuristics - http://cs.gmu.edu/~sean/book/metaheuristics/
Another popular GP tool is GPLAB, which works with Matlab - http://gplab.sourceforge.net
And for C++, I would recommend Open BEAGLE, which supports GAs and GP - http://code.google.com/p/beagle/
