Firstly, I totally agree with precious comments of Leonidas. Then, according to me, Strategy as Practice (SAP) is also another crucial and emerging field under "Strategic Management (SM)" discipline. Although it is not a very young (recent) field, with the help of SAP, we can understand many micro factors (practices) affecting processes and results of SM. It has been also institutionalized and gained legitimacy in field of SM to a large extent. Today, It has a very large network containing scholars more than 3000 (http://www.s-as-p.org/). Thus, I recommend my PhD students to find some (relatively) less studied points (topics) of SAP and to focus on. Please find links below of some seminal articles and books on it.
