Dear Jane Vinokur,

Apart from acting as a buffer layer, MoO3 also has optical spacer properties. Due to this, optical modelling of MoO3 is suggested. Apart from that, a common thickness to use MoO3 is around 10 nm (fine tuning this is totally dependent of your device structure and optical modelling can help you with it).
