I was wondering if anyone knows or have ever seen a paper correlating the changes from larvae to pupae (in mosquitoes) and the synthesis or degradation of genetic material.
I'm asking this because everyone that I know, says that during metamorphosis, the genetic material of the larvae starts to enter in a "reformulation" process in preparation for the development of adult mosquitoe.
Is it true? Does this degradation/reformulation process indeed occur?
Three important changes are possible in insect larvae to pupae transformation, 1. cuticle color or body color changes, degeneration of important proteins which signal pair rule genes and segment polarity genes, metamorphosis of larvae into pupae. Both size variation, wing development gene Fusi tarazu, Oskar and abd genes for estabilization and formation of defined segments. Few of the genes actiavte and few loss their activity as their participation get completed. However, a crawling larvae is now prepare to make a sustain flight that needs refixation, organization of region and segment specific genes and its activity. The role of house keeping genes putforth an overall plan to have an aerial map of first flying embryo or a flightless embryo in apterous insects.

Still on the subject of mosquito pupation I was wondering whether there are any environmental cues which triggers pupation.
Givemore, I know by experience that if you decrease the temperature, larvae will take longer to pupate
Thanks Herverton, I have also noticed that the higher the temperature the faster the developmental time of your larvae (until a certain critical temperature of cause). What I really wanted to know is whether there are any external environmental conditions which triggers the actual pupation along the lines which promote swarming and mating of most anophelines
external factors(environmental factors) includes light and relative humidy as well. As swarming occurs in the dusk hours
