The CCRAS has given a standard protocol for the standardzation of the bhasmas.These tests give the minimum information of the drug.It does not give an indepth review of the elements present in the bhasma/medicine.When are the tests like XRD,FTIR,NPT ,EDAX supposed to be used.Do these tests have significance in different types of bhasmas.
Yes.. from the name of Bhasma only you can judge what kind of elements it may have in it. Secondly if you conduct XRD on it you will come to know what kind of phases of these elements are prepsent in it. For example JAsad Bhasma have ZnO phase of jasad. Likewise if you conduct XRF analysis you will be able to quantify your elements in it if it contains more than two metals... You can read the papers authored by

some papers claim vaccancy of oxygen in bhasma based on EDX analysis.
Dont believe that and does not stasify the claim...
Mercury if you are using for synthesis it will not present in your sample as it may get evaporate during different process in synthesis course...
So many ambiguities are their in Bhasma analysis

Hi Jyoti, in addition to Bhange, In general, every material has a unique characteristic even it has the same name, like Bhasma (Vanga, Mayurapuccha, etc). So to identify completely, I think you have to run as many as analytical techniques (minimal two or three instruments) such as ICP-MS, XRF, and XRD. I hope this information will be useful.
