The main morphological differences between insects and mites are found in the number of major body parts and legs. Mites have jointed bodies (fused into a single continuous body region), legs and an outer skeleton but separate body parts for insects.
Body: Insect is comprised of three segments i.e., head, thorax and abdomen but mites is two: cephalothorax and abdomen.
Legs: Insects have six legs but mites have eight.
Eyes: Insects have compound eyes but mites have simple eyes.
-Insects have mandibles but mites have chelicerae.
-Insects have antennae and wings (many insects) but mites do not.
-Insects under go some form of metamorphosis but mites do not.
