I realise arts-based research is an evolving field. I cannot seem to find any major critics of the field. The closest I have come is the criticism levelled at arts-based auto-ethnography. Where the criticism is that the research is often too self-absorbed and also too contingent and cooperative. I also realise some standards have been created by Leavy in Method Meets Art that could be used to derive possible weaknesses in arts-based research.

Hello! Have you looked at Sage Handbook of the Arts in Qualitative Research - Perspectives, Methodologies, Examples, and Issues, ed. by J. Gary Knowles and Ardra L. Cole - at least the introduction contains some perpectives on how to position your research. Cheers, JM
