The main problem is the nonselective oxidizing property to substrates in fuels.
Benefits: H2O2 is cheap, environmentally friendly, and commercially available. Also, when combined with catalysts (i.e organic acids, MoOx, heteropolyacids), it's able to oxidize sulfur compounds completely.
Challenges: H2O2is not completely fuel-soluble, while another potential ODS oxidant, tert-Butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) is completely fuel-soluble. But TBHP has its own challenges, too.

The use of H202 as an ODS results in low oxidation utilization efficiency of H2O2.This can be attributed to the fact that its (H2O2) oxidation efficiencyis susceptible to variation in temperature, pH, and dissolved ions.
