Cost effective and efficient techniques e-waste management are being researched.I am interested to know the latest techniques in this area which are nearing commercialisation.
The latest techniques which are commercialized currently is pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy technologies, but they have their own disadvantages like high operational cost and production of hazardous materials during the process. Other than this methods there is bioleaching method which is environmentally friendly and cost-effective but with a high reaction time.
It is dependent to the environmental laws and countries. Usually pyrometallurgical methods are in use in developing countries. These methods are fast and easy but they cause environmental impacts (Such as air pollution). On the other hand, the hydrometallurgical methods are preferred in developed countries. These countries usually have rigid laws about environment protection and hydrometallurgy can decrease the environmental impacts of E-waste recycling.
