In the framework of my PhD research, I am looking for ethnographic studies focused on family life (in both the ancient times and the present days) among the inhabitants of Hiva Oa, Tahuata, Fatu Hiva, Nuku Hiva, Ua Pou and Ua Huka.
I am not interested in general ethnographic works, but only in studies covering the field of domestic dynamics. I will be grateful to whose able to share with me their knowledge on this topic.

Going back to the era of Rainocanse, french had the preveledge to florish themselves, without outsiders' very much enfluences, because others were much far behind; knowing their roots helps to measure the upcomming changes appeared by neighbor- cultures and industerial revolution. Their strength in belife system could be the main structure of identity and resistance for what they believe should remain holy untouch. I hope this helps you to norrow down, and opens up a new way of looking at these natives, top to toe.

In fact, I am looking for ethnographic book or articles about educative interactions among Enata. As I writed in my question, I am not interested in general ethnographic issues, but only in studies covering the field of domestic dynamics. Do you have some suggestion?

Check our Margaret Mead Coming of Age in Samoa an ethnographic study about women coming of age in Samoa and her perspective on it if you read her article you may get ones that relate to your area of research I know we looked at this in intercultural studies.

In fact, Margaret Mead's work is centered on Samoan context and she do not offer any data about Enata people.

Il n'y pas grand chose, je le crains. Les ouvrages sur les Marquises sont assez limités et écrit par des voyageurs, des missionnaires, ou des historiens. Ils sont anciens, historiques ou anecdotiques (Agniel 1998, Couilliot, Darlu et Belaid 1983, Heyerdahl Thor 1976, Rollin 1929, Mouly-Montgeron 1969).
J'ai côtoyé au Musée de l'Homme une ethnologue qui travaillait sur Tonga mais pas sur les Marquises : Marie-Claire Bataille.

Je viens de terminer ma thèse et je confirme ce que tu m'écrit: il n'y a vraiment rien sur l'argument.
J'espère que ma thèse puisse stimuler plus d'études sur l'argument, dans le futur (mais je n'en suis pas trop sûr!).
