I am in the process of preparing the questionnaire to assess the Price Risk Management of Farmers. What are the instruments available to manage price risk of farmers apart from Derivative Instruments and Insurance?
I am seeking (general) strategies available for farmers to manage their Price Risk in questionnaire format.

Do not overlook one of the obvious ways to control price risk management. Futures contracts allow farmers to sell their product at a given price for delivery at a later point in time; these are commonly used in the US.

But, in futures and options, the participation of farmers was found to be very low. If this is the case, what are the other instruments that farmers use to manage their price risk.
In the case of Pakistan, farmers manage their financial portfolios to tackle the price risk or they start to produce on low scale, if they are not adopting any of the price risk management tool like insurance, fwd contracting etc.
