Scoliosis is a condition that involves complex lateral and rotational curvature and deformity of the spine. Scientists at the RIKEN centre for Integrative Medical Sciences in collaboration with Keio University in Japan have discovered a gene that is linked to the susceptibility of the condition. The susceptibility gene is associated with increased expression of the protein BNC2, which in turn regulated with other protein YY1.

Franch-Canada research team reported that POC5 gene probably responsible for Scoliosis.
